Hi

When I install DNN, Iget the error shown at the end of this mail. My system is:

DNN 4.03 Install.Zip
Win XP SP2
IIS 5.1
MS SQL Server 2000 with integrated Windows authentication on the DNN database.

I checked in the folder and that file is indeed missing.

Can someone help please?

Thanks
Hanlie

Server Error in '/DotNetNuke' Application.

Could not find file 'C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\dotnetnuke\Providers\DataProviders\SqlDataProvider\DotNetNuke_template.mdf'.

Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not find file 'C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\dotnetnuke\Providers\DataProviders\SqlDataProvider\DotNetNuke_template.mdf'.

Source Error:

The source code that generated this unhandled exception can only be shown when compiled in debug mode. To enable this, please follow one of the below steps, then request the URL:

1. Add a "Debug=true" directive at the top of the file that generated the error. Example:

  <%@ Page Language="C#" Debug="true" %>

or:

2) Add the following section to the configuration file of your application:

<configuration>
   <system.web>
       <compilation debug="true"/>
   </system.web>
</configuration>

Note that this second technique will cause all files within a given application to be compiled in debug mode. The first technique will cause only that particular file to be compiled in debug mode.

Important: Running applications in debug mode does incur a memory/performance overhead. You should make sure that an application has debugging disabled before deploying into production scenario.

Hanlie,

The file is included with the source. Download the source. Extract the file and put it in the indicated directory. You should be all set after that.

By default, the web.config database settings point to a Sql 2005 express database, if you use SQL2000, you should make the necessery changes in web.config (look in the installation documentation).

Thanks, this was the real problem. I've managed to "install" until I try to go to my portal and get the

Object reference not set to an instance of an object. error

Will look at the other posts to try and fix this.

I get the same error. I'm using the install download on windows XP pro, SQL server 2000.  Just to rule out security settings I've added the 'everyone' group to the security settings on the folder.  Not sure if this enough info or not.
