This is a huge problem - When creating new pages as a non-admin it is impossible to select the parent page and the current page is the parent (why can't all the pages that they have permissions on be selected?) This means that if the parent page is disabled you're screwed. Also i can create a page of type url but if i need to edit it i can't because i cannot view the page and so have no way of accessing the edit page menu. I am guessing there must be a solution out there because otherwise the whole CMS becomes almost useless. Can anyone tell me how to get around this problem. FYI giving users admin accounts is out of the question.

I will try upgrading as soon as i get the username and password from my boss but i have doubts that this has been fixed in the new release. I have tried the advanced toolbar and i still cannot select a parent page. I have noticed that the ribbon control panel does allow you to select a parent page which is good however you cannot select page permissions from this control panel so pages are visible as soon as they are created which is no good either. Also this doesn't fix the problem for editing pages which are of type url. Is there a way of giving acces to the admin -> page management tool to non-admins and restricting their view to only pages which they have permission to edit? Otherwise i guess i am going to have to develop a module to do this :(.
