I left my site on 3.5 ... did try to switch app pool to 4 but got error about an assembly of same name. Guess I need to edit the web.config to change references from 3.5.0.0 to 4.0.0.0 in conjunction with that move. Try again.

OK, I modified the web.config to reference 4.0 instead of 3.5, and app pool same, and recycled.

Now the site is back up, looking good, running on 4.0, but still, the problem in the original post in this thread remains.

you may need to delete the cookie for the site from your local browser cache.
Also make sure not to enable Windows authentication in IIS Website configuration (unless you need it).

Not using Windows authentication and the only enabled authentication enabled in IIS 7.5 is anonymous.

I tried clearing the cache, and that didn't help; fired up Oracle which wouldn't have had it cached and had the same experience. I think no one can at this time log on to that DNN site ... which is a problem, because it is our campus news & reports presence for the PR folks. They use it quite a bit.

The server event logs show nothing. The web site log shows happy "200" status responses. The DNN event log shows a login IP report.

Everything thinks it's working fine except for the fact that I don't have an authenticated session with the interface. Strange.

Anyone have some thoughts regarding this?
