Respected Sir/Mam,

I want to upgrade website from dnn 7.0.6 to 7.3.2. When I perform upgrade from  7.0.6 to 7.3.2 then it went successfully, but when I go to login page and want to logged in then it will not logged in and show the dnn error message "Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation". How can I resolved this.

When I tried to perform upgrade from dnn 7.0.6 to 7.1.0 then it also went succesfully and I am able to logged in successfully as host but when I click on under pages in host tab like File Management and Host Setting are not working properly and showing error message "there is fatal error. object reference is not set yet".

I need to upgrade website from dnn 7.0.6 to 7.3.2. What steps I need to follow for this.

Please help us to resolve this issue.

Thank you for any help or suggestion.

Regards,

Sourabh S. Malani

Sourabh,

did you try to upgrade in steps, say from 7.0.6 to 7.1.2, then to 7.2.2 and then to 7.3.2? (I know, this is not the suggested upgrade path, as it should be possible to upgrade from 6.2.8 to 7.3.2, but you could give it a try).

Other possible reasons I would check:

  • Please check if there are some installation packages for older versions in the /install/module folder (best way to do is delete all files from the folder except Placeholder.txt before you unzip the upgrade package over your installation).
  • If you use a third-party login (or any other third-party module), check this for newer versions und upgrade it as well (you may do that by adding the upgrade package to the /install/module folder before starting the upgrade)
  • Also check the used "core" modules (as dnnBlog, dnnLinks, dnnDocuments, dnnMedia, Form & List etc - the stuff that is mentioned here under "Related Projects") for newer versions and include them in the upgrade process
  • Check if your skin could be the reason by changing the skin of the start page to a default skin before you upgrade

Happy DNNing!
