When logged in as the administrator, I click on Modules at the top and choose "Add New Module"

The loading circle and message appear, but never load the modules.  The loading circle just keeps spinning.

Recent things I've done:

  • Upgraded to v7.3.3
  • Run scripts to fix roles from (FixDNNRoles733.sql)
  • Run TurboSQL scripts to fix performance (TurboDNN095.zip)

Anyone else experiencing this after the latest update?

which control panel are you using (see Host > Host Settings), maybe try RibbonBar or ControlBar instead.
Another option is using free Advanced ControlPanel from www.oliverhine.com

It was set to ControlBar.  I changed it to RibbonBar and clicked the Update button.  Now I cannot access my website.

On Chrome it is stating "This webpage has a redirect loop"

Ok, I went into the database and manually set the ControlPanel setting in the HostSettings table back to the control bar (Admin/ControlPanel/ControlBar.ascx). This stopped the loop.
I then changed it to "IconBar" and get this error at the top

An error has occurred. DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: An entry with the same key already exists. ---> System.ArgumentException: An entry with the same key already exists. at System.ThrowHelper.ThrowArgumentException(ExceptionResource resource) at System.Collections.Generic.SortedList`2.Add(TKey key, TValue value) at DotNetNuke.Entities.Modules.DesktopModuleController.GetPortalDesktopModules(Int32 portalId) at DotNetNuke.UI.ControlPanels.IconBar.BindData() at DotNetNuke.UI.ControlPanels.IconBar. (EventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

Could this possibly be the issue. If so, any assistance in determining the problem would be appreciated.

I found a site that explained the error and had a solution.  It was a duplicate entry in the DesktopModules table. I found the duplicate using this:

select FriendlyName, count(*) from DesktopModules group by FriendlyName having count(*)>1

I then determined that someone probably wanted to add a module to a page, but instead created a new one.  I deleted the row and that seemed to fix the issue.  I am not sure what other tables are linked, so I will need to check into that a bit more.  But the Control bar seems to work know.  I guess the upgrade opened up the issue or something.  Not sure, but fixed.  Thanks for your input Sebastian for your input.

As a side note, I was ready to give up on DNN the other day because it was just so slow and tedious to work with.  I found your TurboSQL scripts when looking for the Roles solution.  After running them, the system was screaming fast.  Thanks for providing those!
