Hi All,

I am using DNN 7.3.3. When I log in as an Admin, I am not able to access the Portal Alias section under Site Settings. This only displays when I log in as Host.

I am positive that I was able to add the site alias as an Admin in the past. Also, I have read a number or forum posts which seem to suggest that it is usually possible.

Is there a setting somewhere that I am not aware of?

Thanks,

Ryan

Ryan,

It's always been a Host-only option (at least as far back as DNN 5.6.3).

Thanks for the reply, Mike!

That is a pity. Do you know of any other way to make this functionality available to the Admin?

The Admin does have access to a control panel, which allows him to add IIS bindings. Is it possible to automatically add the alias based on mapped URLs in IIS? I have tried to achieve this with the "Auto Add Site Alias" feature, but it didn't work. Do you have any insight into this feature which could help?

Ryan,

If you modify \DesktopModules\Admin\Portals\sitesettings.ascx, you can move the Portal Alias section so that it's not in the section with the id of "hostSettings". That should make it accessible to Administrators.

By the way, your suggestion worked perfectly! Thank you =)
