Hi,

I am having problem to setup a new DNN 6 site pointing to existing database. I am joining the new team and need to setup site in my machine by bringing the common database to my local SQL Server 2008.

The problem is that it always takes me to the installation wizard page. I don't want to install again.

Please help.

Thanks,
Keshab

If you are getting the installation wizard screen, that means that DNN can't connect to the database you are trying to connect to, so it thinks it is trying to do a new installation.

Have you verified that you have the connection strings configured properly?

I am seeing this message in the installation wizard page.

The Auto option has been disabled as the DotNetNuke Application cannot connect to a valid SQL Server database. You can continue to use either of the other two Wizard options and configure the Database settings at the appropriate Wizard step.

If you want to avoid the installation, you should pre-configure your web.config file to point to your local database that has already been setup.

Either use one of the other Option or preconfigure both (uncommented) connection strings in web.config as stated by Chris.
