When did that remove line arrive in the Web.config? Was it in the Web.config at 5.5.1 before you started ANY of these upgrades?

I have a brand new install of 7.4.1.x (the development branch) it does not have that line in the web config and I don't recall ever seeing it in a DNN web config.

To be honest, I don't either. I checked and it was in the web.config from version 5.5.1.

I found a post where they recommended adding the following:

<add name="LocalSqlServer" connectionString="Data Source=ASWWEB;Integrated Security=false;Initial Catalog=ASWDotNetNuke;User ID=*****Password=*******" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />

That seems to have eliminated the "LocalSqlServer" error. However, I am still getting an error and when I check the Windows Event Logs it appears to be a module they purchased that may not be DNN 7 compatible. I'm going to remove that from the page and attempt the upgrade. If that works I can purchase a newer version of the module.

Well, I removed that module but still got an error... checked the EventLog and had the following:

Exception message: c:\dnn\App_Code\XML\Components\XmlController.vb(171): error BC30456: 'DeleteSearchItems' is not a member of 'DotNetNuke.Data.DataProvider'.

I've gone back to 6.2.9.... Can't seem to get around this.

I did a long (lots of versions) upgrade for a client recently.

At some point (earlier than you are at) I hit a problem with App_Code. My notes don't record exactly what was in there. I hit ambiguous type messages - different to yours. I don't think there should be any module related code in there. My notes say I deleted everything but AssemblyInfo and Global.asax.

Wanna try that?

Best wishes,

OK, well, it's progress. I updates the XML module (that wasn't even being used) and I was able to perform the upgrade to 7.3.3. I got no errors during the upgrade. However, upon returning to the site I had some Pop-ups with 404 errors. After logging out I am not able to log back in. I think I saw something about this issue so I will look, but if anyone knows please let me know.
