HI folks:

Looking for some possible savior here. In trying to optimize my DNN site, I made a change that is now preventing the DNN Admin drop down menus from working. I'm hoping someone can help point me into some help.

I can log in to my site ok. THe menus across the top, ADMIN HOST TOOLS HELP work fine. It's the admin menus with a drop down like Modules Pages USERS and Edit Page. When I click on them, nothing happens ( (void(0)).

Any ideas as to what I did because I surely didn't do a good job of this. I was making some suggested settings from others on how to optimize my site for performance. I minified my SuperFish menu, turned on minification of JS and CSS in the HOST settings.

How do you edit pages now if the Edit Page button doesn't work?

Other menus work in the admin tools and host tools. It's just those menus at the top...they don't drop down.

I feel like a fool. So sorry for being so stupid.

SOmeone save me...what can I do to reenable those drop downs? What controls them?

PS. I did disable Skin Widgets. THinking that might be the issue, I have re-enabled them. but those menu dropdowns still dont respond.

most likely you are having JS issues, e.g. with jQuery.
Did you keep a page with default skin?
Are you able to access site settings/host settings and disable minification?

Those menus work fine on the Admin Pages.

I have one page that is only for registered users. that page has a DNN gravity skin. It also works fine.

It's just my pages that are skinned. The public pages of my site. those drop downs don't work.

Going to try to see if I can revert to a previous save of one of my skins and see if the menus come back.

DOn't know what else to do.

Ok. It was the Host Settings - Composite files.

Disabled that and the menus work again.

I guess now I try to figure out how to make Google happy by minifying without using this capability on the Host Settings.

I get all kinds of errors and warnings from Google about poor above the fold issues with JQUERY and CSS. I have a score of < 50.

At least I got the site corrected.

Thanks for the idea sebastian.

Google likes to say that webmasters should build a site for users. My users love my new site. It loads pretty well for them and they love the way it looks. Unfortunately, google talks outside both sides of their mouth. My site is poorly scored on the mobile PageSpeed. Mostly all these issues with JQUERY, JS and CSS.

I'd hate to revert to static and inline <scripts> and <styles> but it looks like that's what I'm going to have to do to adjust my skin design to be better performing. I really don't have much really. A bootstrap3 css and carousel with a few images. The Superfish menu. A couple of CSS styles for text and divs.

Back to the drawing board RE: Mobile performance. (But at least my menus work again! Yay!)

Danke Sebastian.

You are welcome,
I'd start optimizing Images, this should improve page size and load Speed for most users.
