please check definition of version id column (ideally using SQL Server Management Studio), it should be an identity column

Sebastian - I think this is going in the wrong direction. We already know that the column does not accept null values - the original error message tells us that. /unless you have something specific in mind I don't see how confirming it's an identity column will help.

Somehow the upgrade the OP is applying seems to have a query that attempts to update the column to null. I cannot guess where that might have come from, but I think it's what needs tracking down. I now have to concede that I don't have an obvious way to do that. I'm doubly puzzled because the upgrade to 7.3.4 that the OP reports as completing would have applied the 6.2.8 upgrade along the way.

Best wishes,

Richard,
the error message points to a modification of the table where the VersionId lost its identity property - most likely due to an incomplete transfer of the database.
Jonathan could fix this using SSMS, however I fear there will be other tables affected as well.

Hi Sebastian,

Thank you for the explanation. I now see where you are going with this. Yes it does look like the Version table's VersionId column is no longer an identity column.

I agree that if that has happened to it there are probably more serious problems lurking in the database.

Best wishes,

Identity is set to false on the VersionId column. I'll include a full listing of its properties if that helps.
