I've searched the forums but have not yet come up with an answer for what I'm guessing should be a fairly simple configuration.

On one of the portlas on a DNN 4.3.2 forum a regular user cannot edit his postings. On the _default portal a regular user CAN edit his postings. I don't know if this is a _default / sub portal thing or a configuration error.

I've brought up all the settings side by side in 2 different browser windows and everything appears to be the same with the permission settings on the 2 forums...

ver 4.3.1 (to 8 July 2006) ver 4.3.2 (to 20 July 2006) ver 4.3.3 (to 5 Aug 2006) ver 4.3.4 (to 20 Sep 2006) ver 4.3.5 (to 25 Dec 2006) ver 4.4.0 (to date)

I checked this on another forum as well. Another portal set-up with the same 4.3.2 code base and most recent forum module. On this forum as well I cannot get the regular user to be able to edit their posts.

I notice that here on the DotNetNuke forum that I (as a regular user) can edit previous postings that I made. That could be because this is a _default portal?

I wonder if it would be difficult to set-up another portal here so that if we have a query such as this we can go over to the other portal and try it out to resolve _default vs other portal issues?

Can anyone refute or confirm this behavior?

I have been throught the settings on the forums that are NOT on the _default portal and a regular user cannot edit their own posts even though all the settings appear to be the same.

If someone can confirm that this is a subportal problem with the forums then I will stop trying to fix it and move onto something else.

Thanks.

Please re-confirm but I believe the difference may be a user be "Is Trusted". Users who are marked as trusted should have the ability to edit their own posts. If a user is not trusted, they should not see the button.

Thanks Crispy - mystery solved - when set to trusted they can edit posts. Is there a way of defaulting users to trusted?
