Attempting to install DNN 8.0.3 on Windows 10.

Installer title is 'Web Platform Installer 5.0'

It gets to connecting to the database.

Gives the error:

         Microsoft Web Platform Installer

The specified password for user account 'sa' is not valid, or failed to connect to the database server.

I can connect to the same database, same username 'SA', same password, just fine using SSMS.

I don't find a folder portals/_default or any log file.

SQL Configuration says that TCP connections are enables, but I don't know how to test that to verify it.

The instance it is trying to connect to ./SQLExpress is SQL 2008

The saddest part is that I doin't care about connecting to  ./SQLExpress .

Once I get DNN installed, I'll be using the SQL instance on the server, not local.

But I can't figure out how to get past this.

I tried downloading just the Install Package. But there are no instructions for installing it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks. Brad.

For those playing along at home, the site is http://nvquicksite.com

Looks very useful.

Not sure if I'm getting further or just getting a different message.

Windows NT user or group 'IIS APPPOOL\SchoolworkAssignments.localhost_nvQuickSite' not found. Check the name again.
I would have thought this would be exactly the type of thing that QuickSite would handle for you.

I thought I'd have better luck with the default pool.

But no dice.

>  Windows NT user or group 'IIS APPPOOL\DefaultAppPool' not found. Check the name again.

Google returns nothing. Any suggestions?
