there shouldn't be a clientIDMode value in web.config, I am curious, which site modification added it.

Cheers from Germany,

I don't know. It appears to have been in the web.config file before I upgraded to 8.0.4.
Thank You

My solution to this problem didn't make it into me previous post.

To fix, I removed ClientIDMode="AutoID" from the following 'pages' tag:

< pages validateRequest="false" enableViewStateMac="true" enableEventValidation="true" controlRenderingCompatibilityVersion="3.5" clientIDMode="AutoID" >

When I removed the ClientIDMode= "AutoID" attribute completely, it fixed the problem.

Hi,

I have got the same problem recently. Your sugesstion resolve my problem also. As Sebastian said, the DNN upgrade didn't add the clientIDMode="AutoID" to the webconfig. For me, it was added after i have tried to change the framework of the DNN site from 4.5 to 4.5.1.
The following msdn link confirm that : https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libr...(v=vs.110).aspx

" The default value of ClientIDMode for a page is Predictable. The default value of ClientIDMode for a control is Inherit. Because the default for controls is Inherit, the default generation mode is Predictable. (However, if you use Visual Studio to convert a Web project to ASP.NET 4 from an earlier version, Visual Studio automatically sets the site default to AutoID in the Web.config file.) "

Thanks
