I have created a Web site outside of DotNetNuke. I would like to incorporate the Forums module into the Web site. Can I incorporate only the Forums module into my Visual Studio 2005 Web site?

no, the forums module is fully integrated into dotnetnuke, so uses the users/roles setup. It would take quite a bit of work to integrate it into your site IMHO. You might be better off running it in a virtual directory or looking at an asp.net version.

You mentioned that I would be better off running it in a Virtual directory. Can you explain that a little more?

it's just a common way to give the impression that something is integrated with an existing site i.e. you run www.mysite.com , and your forum is available as www.mysite.com/forum , which to the user looks part of your site (obviously you'd have to style the forum to ensure this is the case), but in fact is a seperate IIS applicationin it's own virtual directory

Another aspect that Cathal did not address in that setup (forums in a virtual directory to appear as part of your existing ASP site) is the issue of DNN registration- in order to participate in the forums.

Either your users will need to register in the  new DNN site and you will lose the appearance of integration, or you will have to figure out how to seamlessly and programatically transfer their user information (and log in) from your existing ASP site into DNN.

IMHO- you ought to be looking for an ASP-specific forum solution.
