Yes it's a child portal of 'staffnet.plymouth.nhs.uk'. Under Site Settings the home page is set. There's no web.config under the child portal directory. I've renamed the 'Home Page' to just 'Home' which means http://staffnet.plymouth.nhs.uk/peopleportal/home.aspx' works, but still not http://staffnet.plymouth.nhs.uk/peopleportal. It's very strange.

Is DnnFriendlyUrl urlFormat set to advanced in the web.config and then it may be an advanced url setting. I think there was no UI to manage those settings easyly in Dnn 7 so I would start by upgrading and then it will give you more settings, basically you would need extensionless urls to begin with. Do other pages also all have .aspx at the end?

Other pages on the site and parent portal can be accessed without any .aspx extensions.

I setup a local host entry for a new domain (peopleportal.plymouth.nhs.uk) and added this as a site alias (including the binding in IIS) and that's working fine. This is probably better overall, but I'm still confused as to why the older mappings stopped working.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.
