You could probably get an understanding of this more if you had a look at your own folders on your computer - when you right click. and you have security - you can choose different levels and different depths of security. If you click on Advanced in your own xp folder, you can see it to be recursive or in simple terms - follow through to the sub folders.  If it's not set you can do alot of things except write!!

So, in plain english - you need to make sure permissions are set correctly - reading an error that says *denied* in the logs ins pretty much a good starting point to start looking at the file writing permissions. And sometimes trying to ftp files to a folder will also give you an indication on whether or not you have the correct permssions.
