Description of problem:
I recently installed DNN 4.0 successfully on a shared host (provided by CrystalTech). I used their control centre install - I did not do a manual install. I then visited the DNN default.aspx page to successfully finalise the install. While DNN is installed visitors to my site are still served up the old 'non-DNN' pages (default.asp home page and a whole bunch of static HTML pages linked from that page). It is my inte

However when I today visited the DNN home page on the site (http://www.cluas.com/default.aspx) I was - instead of seeing the DNN Home page - redirected automatically to my site's IP address (http://208.106.147.210/) and the non-DNN default page was visible in the browser). However if try and visit http://208.106.147.210/default.aspx I do get to see the correct DNN home page.

Can anyone advise what is stopping me from seeing the DNN home page when I visit http://www.cluas.com/default.aspx ?

Thanks in advance

Did you add cluas.com as a portal alias?
Host>portals>portal aliases

I am new to DNN, but set it up yesterday for our intranet.  Installation is not necessarily intuitive, and somewhat buggy.  That mixed with stupid user errors left me working most of the day on the project.  Final straw was exactly the problem you described.

1.)  Log in as host.

2.)  Under host, go to portals.

3.)  Add a portal alias for your fully qualified URL (http://www.cluas.com).

Problem seems to be with initial alias.  In my case, I was logged into the web server, so initial portal alias was "localhost/iws".  "iws" is the intranet portal under our external site.

Hope this helps.

Allen
