When I build new dotnetnuke application using the "template" from Visual Studio.Net  2005 with all defaults and the correct WEB.CONFIG file, I get the following error when I build/run the application. Any insgihts as to why I might be getting this error? Is there standard procedure available to create a new dotnetnuke application using VSS 2005?

Thanks for quick response, infact this is what I did.

1.Installed default dotnetnuke application that comes with the installation package using "Source installation" and it worked fine.

2.Deleted the default application and Virtual directory.

3.Copied the Web.config from the default installation.

4.Created my own application and used the web.config file updated to point to the same database as the default setup avove.

5.Built the application and ran it.

The web.config is essentially identical to the one that comes with "source package" and points to the same database, do I have to use a new database?

Ok you prolly did the web.config right since it worked before.

Couple things:

You didnt have to delete your default app and dir you could have use that one to build on.

You sure you created a new vir dir for your app? the app is trying to reference the old app, if your URL is different in any way it wont work.

I wouild recommend starting over, run the app first the way u did the first time then open the solution and build it, its that simple

The new app is clean in the sense that it created a new VIR DIR and using the right URL - http://localhost:4170/MyPortal/ when I built it, the reason I did not want to go back to the default app was that it was using http:\\localhost\dotnetnuke. I wanted to create my own portal app.

What is the standard way(STEPS) of creating a new DOTNETNUKE application from VS 2005? I have heard that it is a simple process but for some reason I am not sure where I am going wrong.

Thanks,
