I originally installed 3.1.1 with the source on my webserver.  I made no core changes.  I now want to upgrade to 3.3.3 and I was thinking about using just the upgrade download instead of the source download to save on the time it takes to upload the entire source vs just the upgrade.  Is this ok to do since I first installed using the source?  Secondly, if I later upgrade to 4.x and want to use the source starter kit install will it be a problem?

Thanks,

Keith

upgrading using the current upgrade should work without issues, although you will miss all module upgrades.

Before upgrading th DNN 4 you need to remove all source code, otherwise your portal will fail.

Thank you Sebastian!

Another question if I may.  I upgraded successfully to 3.3.3 but my site was using ActiveForums 3.6.3 and that module is no longer working.  The data is in the SQL tables, the module definition is in the portal but I still receive a Critical Error when accessing the page with the forum on it.  Any ideas?

Thanks,

Keith

upgrade ActiveForums to the latest version, if this does not help, please contact the developer.

Hi,

I did open a case with activemodules and the response I got was that DNN3.3.3 requires v3.6.7 of Active Forums.  I downloaded that version and installed it and my problem is now fixed.

Thanks you for help,

Keith
