I need a good reliable hosing company.

The company that is currently hosing my websites seems to have no interest in correcting speed issues. I started with a mid range plan and upgraded to a development plan. After doing so my speed issues did not go away. I purchased and installed "Site Alive" and use "Smarter Ping" and that seemed to make things significantly faster. Then in the last 2 weeks I dropped back to where I was (speed wise) when on the econo plan. I am nowhere even close to the disk space max or the bandwidth limits. Not even 1/2 usage. But I have teams that need to access project management modules that are unable to do so as the pages start to load but never finish. It can take up to 30-45 seconds just to load the home page and sometimes that will time out. The Host company tells me again I should update to another plan that is about 400 more then what i just updated to. Even though I have prepaid for a year I can not have this unreliable service and must move.

I am looking for a reliable Host preferably in the states with a phone. I am also looking for any tips or links to information that would make my migration as painless as possible.

TIA

Dan

Dan, I have to say I found PowerDNN to be very good. Tony takes his work seriously and seems to not sleep (I am based in London).

Check out this Speed Test I did... it may help you make your mind up... I have only tried WH4L and PowerDNN so I can't comment on others...

Hi Rodney

I was considering WH4L, why did you move from them to PowerDNN?

Hi Ollie

Well I don't want to slag off WH4L too much because there was a time when their service suited my needs, and I think this is what it comes down to - it depends on your requirements.

I really like PowerDNN - Tony is a workaholic and proactively takes things into his own hands (a little too much - sometimes I like to keep control ;)

But upgrades are are quick and easy - he is quick to respond and I am happy with the performance. I think the price is right and I'll be there until further notice. The fact that he is dedicated to DNN is a major plus - ie. he knows what's going on. A lot of other hosts have some idea about it but Tony is very familiar with the product.

I was on the very basic $9 WH4L plan (so I can't comment on the more expensive plan) - but my site regularily went down, as did the email. I would always have to contact them and although they were quick to respond there was way too much downtime. And it was slow (but again, it was the cheap plan!)

But... take the plunge and try it - Power DNN are doing a special deal where you get some time free... you probbly won't look back.

If you do sign up - please mention Smart-Thinker  ;)
