I added Forum_3.20.08 to a DNN 4.0.3 site and it loaded no problem. When I added the module to a page, I received the following error msg;

A critical error has occurred.

The INSERT statement conflicted with the FOREIGN KEY constraint "FK_ModuleSettings_Modules". The conflict occurred in database "A3040558", table "dbo.Modules", column 'ModuleID'. The statement has been terminated.

Has anyone seen this error?

I'm pretty sure the forum won't run in this version.

Are you saying that Forums 3.20.08 is for versions of DNN later than 4.0.3 only (and that we need to use an older version of Forums under 4.0.3?  I am running 3.20.08 under 4.0.3 and while making posts is not a problem, I get multiple "An Error has occurred" messages when I try and use any of the "My Settings/My Posts/Search" buttons.  Any advice?  Thanks.

yeah i'm having the same problem, but my hosting account provide me with dotnet DNN version 4.0.2. i spent a whole day trying to figure out how to upload the forum module (basically playing around to see whats all about and looking for tutorials

The installation said it was sucessful. When i created a new page and went on to add the forum module that's when thing happened.

first i get a small error but then i go to click on the nav tab to refresh and i get this:

An error has occurred.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.PageLoadException: Multiple controls with the same ID 'ctr367' were found. FindControl requires that controls have unique IDs. ---> System.Web.HttpException: Multiple controls with the same ID 'ctr367' were found. FindControl requires that controls have unique IDs. at System.Web.UI.Control.FillNamedControlsTable(Control namingContainer, ControlCollection controls) at System.Web.UI.Control.FillNamedControlsTable(Control namingContainer, ControlCollection controls) at System.Web.UI.Control.EnsureNamedControlsTable() at System.Web.UI.Control.FindControl(String id, Int32 pathOffset) at System.Web.UI.Control.FindControl(String id) at DotNetNuke.UI.Skins.Skin.CollapseUnusedPanes() at DotNetNuke.UI.Skins.Skin.Page_Init(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.OnInit(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.UserControl.OnInit(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.InitRecursive(Control namingContainer) at System.Web.UI.Control.AddedControl(Control control, Int32 index) at System.Web.UI.ControlCollection.Add(Control child) at DotNetNuke.Framework.DefaultPage.Page_Init(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.OnInit(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Page.OnInit(EventArgs e) at DotNetNuke.Framework.PageBase.OnInit(EventArgs e) at System.Web.UI.Control.InitRecursive(Control namingContainer) at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

I have no clue what all of this means and was hoping someone could help me here. If that module is not compatitable with my version, then what version should i get

Or actually, How can i upgrade the DNN so that it becomes compatible with that module and would that solve this error.

Thanks

When I develop the module, I develop against the latest released version of DotNetNuke. In the case of DNN 3.3.x/4.3.x, any releases of this module were only tested against those particular versions. The latest is tested against 3.3.3/4.3.3, and the next release will only run on this or greater for sure. As time goes on, the API changes as well as new core items are consumed by the module. In most situations, however, you can go back a core version or two. The difference here is the major API changes around users which the module had to change to run properly in those versions.
