Hi, forgive my ignorance. I have two questions.

The first is that I keep trying to create a new portal and I get this message:

"An Error Was Encountered During The Creation Of Your Portal. This May Have Been Caused By Specifying An Incorrect Password For An Existing User Account. Please Verify Your Details Before You Try Again."

However it does seem to create the portal but I can't access it. Can you explain what I should put in alias? I have one hosting account but I would like several portals - should this be possible? When do I use parent and child?

Also, I would like to use project modules like blog and chat. I have downloaded them but I have no idea where to put them so that I can insert them as a module in any of my pages. I think I am missing something integral to the understanding of this whole process. I appreciate any help.

Many thanks.

Sarah

The first issue might be a problem of invalid alias. An alias for a parent portal is "www.mydomain.com" or "dotnetnuke.mydomain.com", on localhost "localhost/mydomain". A child portal would be "www.mydomain.com/dotnetnuke" (without changes to IIS settings)m while an additional parent portal needs to add the specific host header in IIS settings. Note: For child portals, the Worker process needs the permission to create a new folder in DotNetNuke root directory.

To install existing modules log in as host, enter module definitions in host menu and select "upload new module".

Thanks for your reply Sebastian. But how do I upload the blog module? I have installed it on my computer but how do I upload it as a module? I have tried uploading various files from the zip folder but none of them work.

Regards, Sarah Wilson

to upload a module log in as host, go to module definitions item in host menu and select "upload new module" command. browse for the module zip and add it to the upload list - click upload and check the install log. done.
