We currently run our Intranet using Rainbow 2005 but, for various reasons, we are considering moving to DNN. We live in a Multilingual country and I wanted to know if it is easy to set up the intranet with a language switcher option for French and English (GB). We don't want dates etc. showing in U.S. format when in English mode.

Also, say you have several portals (in my case different departments within the organisation), can you have an auto link that would mean that an announcement on one department's portal could automatically show in another.

And lastly, is there anything like a "What's New" module that would just show links to things updated since a user last visited?

Many thanks for your help.

DotNetNuke comes with Framework Localization out of the box, i.e. you only need to add a language pack and the language switcher is displayed (using the default skin). For content localization in a true ML environment, you need to add 3rd party modules, e.g. from Locopon and Apollo Software, please have a look into the Localization forums for details.

The Portal group feature is still on the road map, to display content of another portal, you can use RSS or a generic database query tool, that is set up to refer to the data from the other portal. Please note, that this need severe consideration of security!

A What's New module has been added in DNN 3.3.x/4.3.x.
