To clarify, there are separate issues pertaining to the "remember login," and correct me if I'm wrong.

1. Persistent cookie created via the remember me checkbox expires by default in 60mins, in DNN 4.X.
To fix: increase timeout value (in mins) in the forms tag in web.config
Comment: I've personally not experienced being logged out after 60 mins, and also the slidingExpiration is set to false which would mean you'd be logged out in 60 mins even if you are active on the site.

2. Remember login does not work, or users frequently get logged out, users or cannot logout
Possible causes:
A. Authentication does not properly login users, and clear or re-issue cookies (my favorite answer)
B. Some bug with ASP.NET, or it's the way ASP.NET works (core team's favorite answer)

If you never check remember login, you won't have any problems.
