I am not sure if this was an issue cause by me or the upgrade.

Portal is updated to the latest version to date v3.1.1 , also I have downloaded the new Forums module released Yesterday I belive v 3.10.04.

I had the previous version of the Forums installed including the Gallery Module. The Galley Module would never function correctly so I never put a huge effert in correcting it.

This leads to the possible error at hand. I had a few users that allways recived a Critical Error when trying to open the forums, It worked for them orginaly and then stoped working. I was hoping this would be corrected with the new release. Now the same user gets a Critical Error : The path is too long after being fully qualified. Make sure pat is less than 260 characters.

None of my paths are that long...

I can still post messages but it seems to pick on some of my users.

The only time we have ever seen any error with a pathing problem like this, it sticks to a user.  When i say stick, that user can log out, view everything fine.  They can even log in with another account and all is well.  When they log back in w/ the troubled account, there is a problem.  This is not a forums problem if that is the case, it is actually a core problem only exposed when the cache polling is set in the web.config.

So let me get this stright, even if the User had the problem before with a Critical Error only with the Forums and no where else. Now this same user only has a critical error after the upgrade in the forums just a differnt error concerning the long path name.  This is a CORE  issue concerning a bad account.

Can you lead me to an document on how to fix this users account and the other 3 or 4 effect the same way.

BTW great work its allways worth the wait for quality..

There is no document for this.  It was something we found wrong here on dotnetnuke.com.  It has to do with chaching.  This is set in the web.config.  The file names are generated per user, that is why it sticks to the one account.  You have to disable this in your web.config.

There is nothing in the forums that makes a file outside of the gallery and attachments.  If you are not using these then it is most definately not the forums.

Sorry to bother you once again on this matter. I have gone throught the web.config file and there is alot of referance to Cache..

For Example:
<add key="EnableCachePersistence" value="false" />

cacheRolesInCookie="[true|false]"

maxCachedResults="int"

type="DotNetNuke.Services.Cache.BroadcastPollingCachingProvider.BPCachingProvider,

That is only a few that I could fnd. The last one was the only one that refered to Polling as well.

Could you please point me in the direction on what to modify to correct this issue.

Again thank you for the hard work you and everyone else does to make this project possible. I use my DNN portal as a Cub Scout website for our whole Council and I trully understand what everyone has given to the project.
