The data cannot be deleted by upgrading.  The only way the data can be deleted is manually or by uninstalling the module.

pnguyen535 is right. This happened in my database as well!

So there is something wrong obviously, unless we overlooked this alltogether.....

I'll setup another test in my copy of the website/forum involved.
I'll post the result ASAP.

Actually, I stand corrected.  If the module isn't found, it assumes it is a new install so it will run the drop table scripts.
