Hi guys and gals
At home I'm running Windows XP SP2 with SQL Server 2005 and VS2005 installed. I am compiling DNN 4.X.
I've just upgraded my machine to 4Gb of memory, which means I can now use the /3GB flag in BOOT.INI.
May I have your advise please?
1) Is there any benefit compiling DotNetNuke with the /LARGEADDRESSAWARE flag (in my configuration)?
2) If I compile the using the /LARGEADDRESSAWARE flag and upload it to my web hosting provider, do they need to accommodate me in some way for this specific build? In which case maybe I shouldn't be using this flag?
3) Any reason why I shouldn't use the /3GB flag?
4) Are there any tips in optimizing SQL Server 2005 for a development environment, baring in mind that I don't have hundreds of users connecting to it, it's solely for my development purposes.
5) Anybody out there have any any other memory tips for 4Gb RAM configurations (like mine)?
Cheers
Alex
p.s. My advise - If anybody is running on 1Gb or less out there, do yourself a favour, upgrade your memory. It makes a heck of a lot of difference. It was something I delayed for a long time, and I regret I didn't do it earlier. Memory is cheap nowadays so there really is no excuse! Save up....
