Hi,

I am hoping to directly download a file from the repository via a URL.

I need to achieve this task via a local VB.NET application and so I believe that a fully qualified URL would be best.

At present, I believe that the RSS facility for the repository module publishes a "grm" id that links directly to the object.

Now, I need a way to automate the download process for that particular file. Any other suggestions on how to achieve this task (with or without the repository) would be very much appreciated.

cheers,

g

Giving this a bump as it sounds like something that would be useful to others and I'm drawing a blank while I'm playing catch-up.

I've found that you can just link to the file directly. For example on my site:

http://www.warbeats.com/site/portals/0/Repository/download_icon2.dc8d4deb-6471-4647-acd2-d9b2fa104e74.gif

I actually do not like this fact because now I cannot protect my files from unauthorized downloading. Once a link is out in the wild anyone can get the file without logging in.

I think the fix for this would be to have the Repository save the files on upload with a .resource extension which will let IIS protect the file from a direct link. Of course the module would have to strip the .resource off when giving the client the download filename.
