Is there a way to pm other users or is this something that's being worked on?

I am still testing this out for the next release. I am also in the middle of other changes as well.

No, this will definately not be part of the 4.3.5 release. I am actually going through step by step right now testing the changes so far with the hopes of being able to finish off a few final changes and then do another series of tests. This is still going to take some time.
