I want to have a button that will run a program on the user's computer that they would have installed on their computer.  This program will generate a zip file.  I then want to have another button on the page that uploads the zip file and unzips the file contents.  How would I do something like this.  I know DNN can upload, and unzip files.  Is it possible to run a program on the client computer?  And how would I make the other button upload a file from a set place on the users computer so they wouldn't have to browse to it?  Is this even possible?  Any help or best practices with this would be great.

Thanks, Matt

No.  Web pages cannot execute code on a local PC, except in the case of security vulnerabilities.  The only way you could do this is to write a browser plugin or ActiveX control and have end users install it.
