Remember that I am not an expert on this by any measure, I have struggled to set this up for 2 days. However I did notice a couple of things. I saw the “! error has occurred” message but I could log in as admin. At that point when I would try to setup a new page with some kind of module, I would see, on the top a different error: “A critical error has occurred” with a message “Value cannot be null. Parameter name: connectionString”. The connection string looked good to me. I had a working dotnetnuke installation on my laptop (which was easy to install on XP. I had problems on Win2000server). I tried breaking the good install to work the same way as the bad one. That way I would know what the problem was. The bad install created all the tables and data (line in your case) but the modules would not work. Since my error was “connectionString”, I tried modifying it to so that the error would read “Value cannot be null”. By changing the db, username and password in the connection string I would get very specific errors “User Name not found” or “Could not connect to Database”. When I added a space in between "  and the word SiteSQLServer like so:(<add key=" SiteSqlServer"…), I got the error “Value cannot be null. Parameter name: connectionString”. My problem was the space in the ‘key’. Fixing that, fixed my problem. However, it didn’t seem like it worked the first time because the browser had something in it’s memory. Close the browser after your done with your changes and open a new one to make sure it loads the changed settings. Refreshing doesn’t work sometimes. Hope this helps.

If you can log in as admin or host
Go to the admin menu and under that you will see the "Log viewer"
If you see any red lines click on it and you will get a detailed stack trace (post that here for us to do a surgery)
Expand the "Color coding legend" and you will see a lots of colors and their meaning.
