Yes, I've had success using store in production.

As has been said by many contributors on these forums, you can get a production site out of Store, but it takes a little work from the developer to get the current version of store into a workable state.

However, djbaldwin has pointed out many times that a new version of store is upcoming with many bug fixes in place, if you don't want the work you can wait for this release.
