This morning my logs consisted of 5 pages of errors!  Most were scheduler errors, with a lot of timeouts mixed in.  This made the site slow down to a standstill!

So my question is, how can I clear the logs when I can't even log in?  Can I do it thru SQL Server Management?  How?

Rickla,

In SQL Server Manager, run a new query on the database in question: "truncate table eventlog". That will clear the tables records.

Thanks Chris!

Another question---How do I disable the scheduler?  I've disabled all the scheduled tasks, but does that actually disable the scheduler?

Dear Rickla,

What version of DNN are you using?  I've recently begun to see what may be the same problem on one of our legacy installations, which is 3.2.2.  We've been migrating sites off of it, and still have a few to go.  It's been running without this problem since 3.2.2 was released, but recently for some reason the scheduler started choking.  I'm still troubleshooting it.

I manually truncated the eventlog and that allowed me to get in and view its contents.  I'm getting a timeout every second or so on average, with the message below.  I've got the event log buffering disabled in the host settings.  How does this compare to your situation?

Here's another interesting tidbit.  After disabling the scheduler (which currently was using the request method -- the setting for that is in the Host Settings page by the way, rickla) then I get a different message, "Scheduler Stopped", just as frequently.
