I'm sorry I misread your post.  Here's what I did to get 4.3.5 source code without the conversion wizard...

1) Make a new directory (say d:\dnn435) and copy the source from 4.3.5 into that folder.
2) Using IIS make a new virtual directory called DotNetNuke_2 and point it to d:\dnn435\website.
3) Ensure full control permissions are set on the website folder for machinename\asp_net (IIS5)
4) Copy release.config to web.config and make any required changes.
5) Open the DotNetNuke solution file in d:\dnn435
6) Ctrl-F5 (run) or F5 (Debug-run)

Let me know if you need anything more.

So I made a new directory say d:\dnn435 abd copied the source into it. But where does this website folder come from that you have in line 2)Using IIS make a new virtual directory called DotNetNuke_2 and point it to d:\dnn435\website. Do I need to make this subdirectory? And put what in the website folder?

When you unzip the file there is one file DotNetNuke.sln (for vs2005) and two folders - one named library and one named website.

Are you sure you are working with 4.3.5 source?

yes I am sure, I have redownloaded it again from the dotnetnuke download page, and still see no website or library folders in the zip file. The Dotnetnuke.sin file I see, maybe the zip file is corrupt up some how. Can you confirm this?

Yes I can confirm this. You need to download a new copy of the source and unzip it.
