Greetings,

Having problems attach the "database.mdf" into SQL Server 2005.

Read the DotNetNuke Installation Guide and it doesn't provide enough information of how to set up SQL Server 2005 "DotNetNuke" database for 4.3.5 version.  This is NEW installation for us.  Can anyone assist us with installation/configuration of SQL Server 2005 with DotNetNuke 4.3.5?

Thank you.

Forget about database.mdf, that's for SqlExpress.

Create a database in SQL 2k5, assign a user to it

Setup the connection string in the web.config for sql 2k/2k5. (2 places to do this)

Hit your site.

Chris, thanks for the information. But what if I'm using SQL Server 2005 Express? Are you saying I should still forget about database.mdf and configuration section in web.config that says "for SQL Express", and use the config section for "SQL 2000/2005"?

My other question: my site has been running apparently using Database.mdf under ROOT/App_Data for a while (because I didn't create DB via SQL Management Tools at the beginning, just let it run as it was - and apparently it was using database.mdf as a default). So what's the best method for me to re-point to the "real DB" now? Can I "copy" that database.mdf to a new database I create via SQL Management Tools, and then use that?

Appreciate your help!

Here's the best post that describes how to configure DNN with SQL Express:

Following the steps described here solved my problems.
