I decided to start over since I had figured out my connection string errors - re-install using the install package of 4.3.5. So I dropped the database, deleted all the files, unzipped the install zip file. Remotely, on a server.

This time I got the web.config file correct the first time!

And I thought it was going to work! The DNN install went through all the versions 3, and the versions 4, with success after success ... and then the installation of the core desktop modules began. Again, it looked good ... until the forum installation, and it bombed.

Back to this:

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

OK ... I can install 4.3.4 via the control panel at my host, so once again I dropped the database and deleted all the files, and used the install application.

Same as above, except this time form got installed ok, and it failed when installing Gallery.

Could this be a time-out issue?

I have never had so much trouble with DNN install!

I have dropped the database and cleaned out the file system at least five times, and have tried to install 4.3.5 and 4.3.4.

The install goes along fine until somewhere in the middle of the desktop modules, when I get an error. I put customErrors to "Off" before starting the install and it is "Thread was being aborted."

Could this be a TimeOut issue? Is this a problem with DNN? Possibly a problem with a setting at my host?

Have you had any success in installing DNN (without that particular error message)?  I too have the same error.  I have successfully installed on my xp pro machine, but am having difficulty with installation on a Windows 2003 server - same error message that you have.  I've even copied the website from my laptop to the server - same error.  I thought it could have been a db login issue, but I can login fine through query analyzer.  I also gave EVERYONE full access to the dotnetnuke directory.

Has support found out about this???

Help,

Michael

Does anyone have a solution to this?  I have seen this on like 20 posts througout this forum.

I am getting the same error.  I wonder how many times they test these setups?
