I have seen SEVERAL posts requesting help with the installation of DNN. I have been trying for days to get it to work and have tried everything. Although I appreciate all the work the developers have done and the fact DNN is free, I don't understand why it is so difficult to install. Is it because it is ASP? or because it is running on IIS?

I am about ready to throw in the towel and go back to joomla.

Specifically:

DotNetNuke Upgrade Error

The Assembly Version ( [ASSEMBLYVERSION] ) does not match the Database Version ( [DATABASEVERSION] )

ERROR: Could not connect to database.

The stored procedure 'dbo.GetPortalAliasByPortalID' doesn't exist.

This is a fresh install of the latest code. I am running windows 2003 and SQL 2005.

This error is telling you that their is a problem with your connection string. Check out your Conenection string and make sure its pointing to your database with a login that has access to the DB.

No kidding?? Nothing personal but I have read every thread related to this problem My connection string is accurate. I tested it with another application. I also tried the installer .0.0.8. It saw my database server and databases. So I know the login to the DB is accurate.

Anybody else?

One more thing. Just to prove that my connection string is correct. If I change the username to something incorrect I get this:

ERROR: Could not connect to database.

Login failed for user '11sa'.

Instead of this:

ERROR: Could not connect to database.

The stored procedure 'dbo.GetPortalAliasByPortalID' doesn't exist.

I am not a genius but this does not appear to be a username / password problem as you have suggested.
