I am new to DNN and very happy with it. However, when I login as the administrator and try to open any module to edit I always receive the following error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. This usualy only happens the first time I try but on other occasions it will happen for hours. I find this very frustrating.

I am using DNN 4.0.3

Can anybody help with this problem?

This version of DNN has the most bugs that Ive experienced.  I recommend upgrading or using 4.3.4 /4.3.5

Has any changes been made to this site ie skinning, 3rd party mods etc?

Yes some changes have been made to the skin and there are some 3rd party mods. I don't think this is the problem because this error has been occuring since DNN was first installed by my hosting company.

I have been considering upgrading.

Cheers

We had the same problem with DNN 4.0.3 - turned out it was a localisation problem with the DNN HTML editor:

If you've got ftp access to your site, just follow the instructions in that thread.

If your users might be using different languages/timezones etc, then remember to make a copy for each localisation, eg. I copied the default file as en-GB, en-AU and en-NZ, just to be safe.
