Hello guys,

I have the following problem with the document module (03.01.05) under DNN 4.3.5 :

When a user downloads a pdf-document, the download completes without error, but the file isn't entire (473 KB (485 120 Bytes), instead of 491 KB (503 063 Bytes)).

Thank you very much for any help !

Regards,
Fabian

Did you upload a new version of the file using FTP or direct file copy?

Hello Anthony,

in fact I just wanted to check this question, and here is what I discovered. I did both, and in both cases it does the same problem.

But there is another thing that I just discovered while doing this : When I go in the host's or admin's File system tab, I get the following error :

blanc page and this message:

An error has occurred.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.PageLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.Security.Permissions.Controls.FolderPermissionsGrid.SaveViewState() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Page.SaveAllState() at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

I do not know if there is any connection between these problems.

So anthony, what would be your suggestion? This document module worked fine for years, and suddenly this problem... (I upgraded with this protal from 3.1.x all the time, whenever a new version came out, till now 4.3.5). Also I wanted to let you know that the file that is located on the server and which gets downloaded when clicking the download link isn't broken, I mean when I download it by ftp, it works fine.

Thank you very much for any help!

Regards,
Fabian

PS perhaps there is some relation with the following problem that I encountered :

I don't know what your error above means, but I remember hearing that the core DownloadFile() function uses the file length from the "files" table (rather than the on-disk size of the file).  So if you uploaded a new version of your document via FTP, you would have to use the "Synchronize" function in File Manager so DNN is aware of the new file size.

Hello anthony,

I checked the file's size in the file-table. It is correct : 503,063. Another idea?

Thank you very much for taking time for my case!

Regards,
Fabian
