I upgraded from 3.2.2 to 4.3.5 (so went from ASP.Net 1.1 to 2.0). Now I can't access the File Mnager through either Host or Admin. I get this type of error:

An error has occurred.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.PageLoadException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.Security.Permissions.Controls.FolderPermissionsGrid.SaveViewState() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Control.SaveViewStateRecursive() at System.Web.UI.Page.SaveAllState() at System.Web.UI.Page.ProcessRequestMain(Boolean includeStagesBeforeAsyncPoint, Boolean includeStagesAfterAsyncPoint) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

Please advise!

I do have the same problem :(

It certainly seems to be a Permissions issue.

My ISP forgot to set ASP.Net permissions for Network Services when I changed from ASP>Net 1.1 to 2.0 and so when I ran the scritp, I think some 'connections' did not get made.

I have them checking the Permissions on the Portals folder and it's sub-folders. That seems to be where the problem lies.

I will update with further results.

Well, the permissions seem to be right on all the folders, and I have tried reloading the 4.3.5 upgrade on top of the current site. No effect of course.

I will now recover to the 3.2.2 site of a week ago, and then redo the upgrade. Hopefully it catches this time. Since ASP.NEt Network Services permissions have now been set, I suspect it will. I will update once the recovery and re-update are completed.

I now think it was a child portal off the main one that is causing the problem.

We recovered everything fine back to 3.2.2 and then I tried the upgrade to just 3.3.5 so that ASP.Net 2.0 would not be an issue. Same problem.

On reviewing the log more closely it appears that something is causinga Null value - maybe the sub-domain. So we will recover, and I will delete the sub-domain and try again.

Here is the specific error:
