I began one of my instances of DNN with just a Host or Parent Portal.  As we know it happens alot, the need for a child portal just came up recently.  I created it and was able to create the administrator for it with the same username as
the parent portal.  However, there is a username I wanted to use on the child portal that is already taken in the parent.

I cannot create the new profile using the same username.  DNN tells me that the username already exists, but the username cannot be used to login to the child portal.

I expect that this is behavior by design, but I need to find some sort of work around for this.  I do not want to have users need to have multiple usernames, but I want to keep the child portal in its own sandbox like it is.

Can someone please enlighten me?  :)

Okay, my original suspicions have just been confirmed.  This appears to be a growing pain from the upgrade to DNN 4.3.5.
If I add a new user and try the exact same thing above, everything works fine.  The usernames do not matter or anything.  They are treated as separate accounts.  However, if I try this with a user that existed prior to the upgrade, the behavior described in the previous post will occur.

So...  For those of you who might run into this...

Delete the original user in your Parent or host portal and then add the user back again.  You should now be able to use the same username in the child portals.

I did not thoroughly look through the DB so I do not know the cause of the problem, but this seems to be a sufficient workaround.
