I am close to getting a GoDaddy root install but I am recieving errors when going through the install process. I have tried to grant read/write/web to the Install folder but this did not correct the issue. Does anyone know what could be causing the following errors?

it looks like you haven't adopted correctly the second database connection string in your web.config file.

Is there some special procedure that you followed to get this far?

I cant even get the installtion started. I am stuck with a "DotNetNuke Upgrade Error".

I Set the permissions on the folders to:

bin. Set the permissions to read and write

Portals. Set the permissions to read, write and web

DesktopModules. Set the permissions to read, write and web

Config set the permissions to read and write

Install  Set the permissions to read and write

images.  Set the permissions to read, write and web

configured web.config as necessary

but still I get this error

ant advise?

I originally installed DotNetNuke on a sub directory. One thing I did to get things working after copying over the install files to the root directory was to drop teh ASP version down to 1.1 and then back up to 2.0. I have no idea why this would work or what it did but it got me to the point were I am at now. Everything seems to work on the site so far just received these errors on the install.

GoDaddy Does not allow the necessary access to the root folder of your hosting account to properly install DotNetNuke, but there is a way to accomplish your objective. This also holds true of all GoDaddy reseller sites. Here is what you want to do:

  1. Buy two domains - for the example, let's call them domainOne.com and domainTwo.com. We will assume that the domain name you wish to actually publish is domainTwo.com.
  2. Set your hosting account up using domainOne.com as you normally would do
  3. Create your SQL db as normal
  4. In your hosting control panel create a folder and give it full permissions. Provide ample time for set up to complete - usually 30 minutes or less. For the sake of example, let's call the folder "/portal"
  5. Again in your hosting control panel use the domain control icon to assign your second domain, domainTwo.com to the folder /portal.
  6. Now use FTP to upload all your DNN files to domainOne/portal
  7. Make sure you correctly set your web.cofig for your database you created in step 3
  8. Now browse www.domainTwo.com in order to invoke the automatic setup process
  9. You may want to use a robots.txt to deny domainOne.com/portal
  10. If you do not intend to do anything else with domainOne.com you may wish to put a simple asp page in with a response.redirect(http://domainTwo.com) or some other method to direct spurious hits.
