I am hosting with 3essentials.com (so far a very good host) I can install on a main domain with no problem. I have created the subdomain and had the proper permission added to the httpdocs folder for the subdomain.

I copied all the install files to the httpdocs folder of the subdomain and created a new web.config file. I then log in as host on my primary domain and create a parent portal called preview1.randomdefinition.com it then takes a minute and then goes to the portal, but there is an error and none of the modules have any content and none of the standard passwords work.

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Helfenj-

I do no know what you are doing wrong, but I'm on 3essentials too and having the same issue.

Everything successfully installs except the modules, I'm betting it is a folder permissions issue, but as to which folder I'm working on tracking down...If I get a solution I'll post back here.

Does anyone know how to "restart" the installation, so I do not have to wipe and start from scratch each time I run into an error?

Thanks!

I think I've got it figured out,

You need to manually create a folder called DesktopModules.

Before you install, you need to give this folder Full permissions to the Plesk IIS WP User

(after install of coursescale back the permissions)

But this is the one preventing the install of the modules, I had thought the default logins were not working, but I was entering them wrong. For the host account pwd I wa just entering host not dnnhost.

once in, I could manually install the modules and they all errored out with not being able to access the desktopmodules folder. Once I fixed it, they installed like a charm.

Hum. Ok.

I will have to try that tonight. The strange thing is that the other night I had my site running with 4.3.4 with the same steps....once it worked I firgured lets dump everything and start fresh with 4.3.5. Thats when the wheels came off the bus. I wonder if something changed with 4.3.5 or maybe I jsut thought it was working with 4.3.4.

So after you copy all the install files up, you created a DesktopModules folder at the root of httpdocs and granted the rights there?

Correct-

and after you set the permissions, go back and double check them. 3E is having some issues and my permissions were not staying set.

I's also double check the folder permissions on all the other pertinent ones too.
