Say I'm running 4.35 on a typical shared account on Webhost4life and I can create either SQL2000 or SQL2005 databases in the control panel on there:

  1. What's the advantage or disadvantage of SQL2005 over SQL2000?
  2. How does one go about converting the existing db from 2000-2005?

Thanks for any comments

Rob

Also, if anyone knows the answer to this query, please let me know:

there are several improvements of SQL205, but DNN itself currently does not take advantage of any of the new features for compatibility reasons. However, SQL 2005 comes with a new, improved administration tool, that can be use to administer SQL 2000 servers as well, but not vv. Notive, if you use Access for database management, SQL 2005 is not fully supported by Access 2000/XP/2003.

Thanks for the information. I'll take as meaning there's no pressing need to change over for now.

Thaks
Rob
