Thanks Frank.

To develop w/ the Source version, you must install the install version and then copy over the source files from that source zip. I know the vb files are in that zip.

I look in the source file zip (DotNetNuke_4.3.5_Source.zip) file and I see in the Website\install\modules\ a file called Forum_3.20.08_Install.zip.  I open that up and see a bunch of ascx files and the following dlls

DotNetNuke.Modules.Forum.SQLDataProvider.dll

DotNetNuke.Modules.Forum.Popup.dll

DotNetNuke.Modules.Forum.Integration.dll

DotNetNuke.Modules.Forum.dll

I do not see one ascx.vb file in the zip file from the Forum_3.20.08_Install.zip mentioned above.   As mentioned, I've extracted the entire DotNetNuke_4.3.5_Source.zip and cannot find a file called Forum_ThreadMove.ascx.vb which is referenced as the codebehind file in the control register tag of Forum_ThreadMove.ascx.  I've searched the whole directory and came up with nada.

I feel like such and idiot because I can't find these vb files.

Frank

Ok, allow me to clear up some further confusion. The DotNetNuke source itself does not contain source for the forum module. You need to get the Forum_3.20.08_Source.zip which is available from the Forum Project's home page where it has a project Download link. This contains the source, not the core's source zip.

  1. DotNetNuke_4.3.x_Source.zip and DotNetNuke_3.3.x_Source.zip do not contain module sources.
  2. you need to download module source packages separately from the projects' download pages.
  3. you need VS 2003 to edit current module sources, because they are still developed for DNN 3 and 4 (except Reports)

Guys,

Thanx alot.  I got it now.  I mistakenly assumed that the source download for DNN included all of the source projects.   I see now that I must download the source for some modules (i.e the forums).  The survey for instance came with the .vb files and I modified that module to fix some bugs in it.   So I assumed ALL of the modules included in the DNN Source zip file should be there.

I appreciate your patience.

Frank
