Tam - First I will say this component is looking good. Great job. Now as team lead, it is your responsibility to answer the questions concerning the availability of the source. You have been asked by several people in this forum and have not answered. I myself have sent you two emails and have not heard anything back. An answer of yes or no to this question would be appropriate. No answer at all is inappropriate. Thanks.

I don't think Tam needs anybody else telling him what his responsibilities are.  This is the very first time I have seen this question asked.  I get many emails that are sent to an account I barely ever check and sometimes I notice these emails get placed in junkmail.  I think if I miss some emails that is fine because I will gladly answer things that are asked here.

As for your source code request, why are you even asking this?  Has there been a core project yet that is not releasing source code?  Did you know these changes actually require core changes?  I cannot answer for Tam but the source code will be release when its ready.

Crispy - There actually were requests in this forum and unfortunately they seem to be gone. I can't prove it unfortunately as I don't see them there anymore. There was one individual who asked that if he did not want to post the source code to please send it to him via email....

But on another note, what are you this guy's mother? I have sent him two emails he has failed to answer. I am not trying to tell him what his responsibilities are per se but yes he or someone he has on his team does have the responsibility to answer questions about this as representatives of the project. That is part of committing to an open source project.

Now with that said I do want to reiterate that I think this effort is outstanding, as is the entire DotNetNuke project and the people involved (I assume that includes you?). Don't get defensive when I ask for a simple answer to my question. I know you wanted to jump in here and defend this guy and everything but my intent was not to attack him, it was simply to state that I believe (in my opinion) he has the responsibility to answer these questions. If he, or the rest of the team, does not want to answer questions then don't have the module available for download and don't have public forums on this topic. Simple enough?

Are you ok with that?

DK

PS: Oh BTW, the reason why I was requesting source was because we are on a very tight timeline to implement integration with our Active Directory and the preference is to have source code. I do realize this requires a core modification and is not simple to achieve. I simply had to find out if the source was available to be able to make an informed decision about what direction we need to take. I am not attempting any espionage here or anything.

You gotta lighten up a little dude

There WAS in fact, a direct answer from Tam in the ASP.Net forums.  Specifically he said (correct me if I stray...):

The current third-party source code is HIS....and he's willing to share it selectively with individuals who have shown they also contribute to the community (free modules, core mods, skins, etc...).

He has been kind enough to donate both his code and his integration time to the coming DNN 3.2 AD core enhancement....if you are only a "taker" in this community then you are welcome to the code--when it is released and supported in its "final" incarnation!

Having limited volunteer time, few Core Team members want to waste any of it answering complaints stemming from interim releases and the hacks poorer coders may introduce in parallel to the team's efforts...  Even fewer are willing to waste time answering posts written with your tone...
