I can't build the 4.3 source code in VS2005, i've seen that other people can build it, and i searched 10 pages back on the forums, but i cant find out any VS setup topics that would solve this problem

I have 50 or so "Type not defined" errors due to missing "Imports" statements

for example...

 Global.asax.vb

Config.GetSetting is undefined

LogException is undefined

Scheduling is not declared

Scheduling.SchedulingProvider is not defined

but if i add Imports code as shown below, i can fix some of these problems, but not all of them becausee i dont know all the libraries that need to be imported.

Imports DotNetNuke.Services.Scheduling  (is not currently in the global.asax.vb source code)

Imports DotNetNuke.Services  (is not currently in the global.asax.vb source code)

Is there a real reason you want to use the source version?  It's typically suggested to use the Install version unless you intend to modify the core.  Follow the setup guide in the first pinned post on this forum topic.  If you really do need the source version, try adding references to the offending dlls at the solution level.

hi,

3 reasons...

1) exemplified in this thread http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/ForumsDotNetNuke/tabid/795/forumid/114/threadid/79575/scope/posts/Default.aspx#84051

2) if im going to put my customers onto DotNetNuke then i want to at least have a way to debug errors that i cant find a resoution from the community.

3) if a brand new laptop with freshly installed VS2005 prof and SQL 05 cant build the source with out 50+ missing references and type definitions, then i'm confused as to why i'm the only person who has this problem, or maybe i'm not supposed to be able to build it?

professorcw1, as you have suggested, i have tried to add references to the offending DLLs, i fixed many of them, which i can post my fixes if you think it would be beneficial to the community.  I have not fixed them all yet, but it looks like i may be able to...

i'm too new to DotNetNuke to assume im doing anything smart here, im going to assume that i am simply missing information and banging my head on a problem that has already been resolved.  Please let me know what you think i may have done wrong or if you want me to post my findings.

thanks

josh

i have determined that the missing references were the same ones that are registered globaly by the web.config section below...

why these didnt get registered in a way that was functional when building source code, i dont know, but after a re-install i no longer have the problem of missing references and type definations in the source code...

Hi,

I'm having the same problem. And, I just re-install DNN twice, but the problem is not solved.
Could you explain me little more your solution?

Thanks a lot!
