Also the File Manager page is giving a JavaScript error before touching anything.

  • I still encountered issues after upgrades to 3.3.6/4.3.6 without manually corrections.
  • Invalid characters in file/folder names include "\", "/", ":" and qoutation marks (")
  • invalid folder names contain double slashes

I have removed all files and I'm still getting the following error when I try to synchornise the file manager, and I am still unable to see any subfolders:

BTW - I have upgraded a site - its not a brand new site.

However if I clear out ALL the file in the portal directory, I still get a synchronisation error AND if I add a new folder manually at that point it still does not show up.

One small issue that was found could cause exactly this. upgrade from 4.0.3 > 4.3.5 and/or  4.3.6 causes double slashes in the folders table. You can either upgrade to dnn 4.3.7 which will fix this error, or you can run this script from host>sql:

update {objectQualifier}folders set folderPath = replace(folderPath, '//', '/')
