I am trying to install DNN at 1and1.  Given all the problems that everyone is having trying to get v4 installed at 1and1, I thought I would just install the latest v3 release.

I dropped the old database and made a new one.

I renamed the old DNN directory I had and made a new one.  I uploaded all the files for 3.3.6.  Fixed up the Web Config, set permissions on the files and made the Application folder (what ever that is).

I got it to install with no errors, and can go to the default portal.  But when I try and sign in (once I found out the new password), I get this error:Description: The application attempted to perform an operation not allowed by the security policy.  To grant this application the required permission please contact your system administrator or change the application's trust level in the configuration file.

Exception Details: System.Security.SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Security.Permissions.FileIOPermission, mscorlib, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed.

Any ideas on what to do now?

Some more info....

I was able to register a new user.  I went into database and made it a SuperUser.  This user can log in and does see the Admin and Host menus.

I seem to get the above error at unpredicatable times, but more often than not is seems to happen when I am accessing user security.  Often if I retry it works.

When I try to change the password for host (from the other superuser account), I am getting "A critical error has occurred. Bad Data."

Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry, I can't really help you but just wanted to say that I had given up on 1and1 completely last year. They didn't manage to configure their servers correctly to run DNN back then for several weeks and I had terminated my contract with them eventually and went to a different provider.

Which provider did you go with, and are you happy with them?  I think I will be looking and would appreciate any feedback on who I should check out.

I am running 4.3.6 on 1and1.  The only problem I have is frequent application restarts.  And I can't tell if it's .Net 2.0 application restart problems or 1and1's server.  I tried calling 1and1 to see how

my app pool is configured to recycle, but that was like asking the wall in my living room the same question...

Version: DNN 4.4.1
