Hi all,

Is there a way to tell the core link function in DNN v 03.03.04 not to use the fileticket gobbledgook?

It keeps screwing up and giving file not found errors (in IE only) and I can't begin to debug issues for my client when all I see is a jibberish token.

I'd just like the site I'm trying to finish use plain old links.

Thanks!

GregC

This is a function that is in the core of DNN, not the links module. It has been brought up with the core team and they are working on it.

FYI: File ticket has been added to secure links to files and userprofiles. tickets have a limited lifetime and shall prevent, that users can try to get content by modifying fileId or userId in URL.

Alec - good to hear this is being worked on. Can you say exactly what the problem is that they are resolving (link to Gemini?)? I have been experiencing fileticket related problems when using the Text/HTML module with FCKeditor. I am not clear whether my problem in LinkClick.aspx, the FCK Editor provider, the FCK editor or the Text/HTML module! Here's a description of the problems I have been having with filetickets:

Links to files getting corrupted on second save (Input string not in correct format error)

I would appreciate knowing whether or not you thought this issue would be resolved by the core team's fix.

For what its worth, I modified the core to rid myself of this problem.  After many 00's of complaints I couldn't wait for a new release.  All it requires is changes to a few lines of code in FileServerHandler.vb.

Not the best solution, but the problems have completely disappeared since I made the changes.

Steve
